#WomenMeanBusiness #TheBoss: Sasha Banks: The Boss

Reigning and defending WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks ultimately thrives on silencing her detractors and was frequently informed that she wouldn’t be mentally tough enough or physically strong enough to even make it in leading sports-entertainment brand WWE, yet Sasha Banks routinely continues to make the cynical naysayers eat their words daily by delivering phenomenal performances before sold-out crowds each and every single week.

"The Boss" is a two-time WWE Women's World Champion and also continues to keep the empowering female revolution moving positively forward in sports-entertainment and largely draws upon her naturally competitive spirit and innate driven will to succeed in the ring, thus proving herself a token of inspiration to anyone who was ever denied an opportunity.

Acclaimed media publication Rolling Stone named Sasha Banks Future Diva of the Year 2015 and Banks is a two-time WWE Women's World Champion; Banks' charismatic character is an extension of herself in real life and is summarized by a swaggering hip-hop personified personality meets quirky empowering female boss diva with a vibrant, sassy, uber-confident twist.

In June 2012, Banks participated in a WWE tryout camp and inspirationally succeeded during the tryout camp and signed a full-time contract with WWE. The WWE diva was then assigned to NXT - WWE's developmental territory - where she adopted the ring name Sasha Banks (real name: Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado); Banks subsequently made her main roster WWE debut on July 13, 2015 and has made a very strong impact since her main roster WWE arrival and is over (over in sports-entertainment terminology means very popular) with the fans. Prior to the WWE tryout camp, Banks learned her craft and paid her dues day in and day out on the independent Professional Wrestling scene and it was her dream to work for the company she grew up watching in that of WWE.

Sasha Banks cites WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero as her all-time favorite sports-entertainer and was in attendance at Eddie Guerrero'sWWE RAW memorial episode on November 14, 2005 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Banks later confirmed that she was unaware that Guerrero had indeed passed away before she arrived at the arena.

Banks was born in Fairfield, California and relocated to various states such as Minnesota to find schools and hospitals for her disabled brother prior to settling in Boston, Massachusetts where she commenced her career in sports-entertainment on the independent Professional Wrestling scene. Sasha Banks went to school online and often studied and watched All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling(Professional Wrestling in Japan is universally viewed as a very serious and credible sport and the Japanese professional wrestlers work a more realistic, cerebral, methodically paced and full contact strong style compared to that of what is seen in the United States).

Sasha Banks is a first cousin of "Drop It's Like Its Hot" Hip-Hop icon and WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg, who was instrumental in helping develop her beloved WWE character. In addition to being the cousin of the legendary pop culture icon Snoop Dogg, Banks is also a first cousin of GRAMMY Award-winning R&B superstar Brandy and "Sexy Can I" R&B singer-songwriter Ray J (Banks is also related to Tha Dogg Pound's Daz Dillinger); Sasha Banks is of African-American and German descent.

Outside of the ring, Sasha  Banks is a huge fan of K-pop music (Korean pop music) and the Asian anime cult classic Sailor Moon. In addition, the reigning WWE Women's Champion recently married WWE costume designer Sarath Ton in August.

Sasha Banks' major impact on the main roster in WWE in less than 18 months has been outstanding and at 24 will continue to be the leader of the pack in the female revolution in sports-entertainment. "The Boss" has talent, sass, style and substance to redefine women's place in sports-entertainment for generations to come.
