nia has been delivering services to women, girls and children who have experienced domestic and sexual violence since 1975. The organisation has three main aims: to provide services for women, girls and children who have experienced men’s violence; contributing to ending male violence against women and girls, and to inform and influence policy and public awareness.

In Newham we provide IDSVA (Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocacy) services. The IDVA team provides a specialist service to victims who are at high-risk of serious harm or homicide from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members, with the aim of securing their safety and the safety of their children. An ISVA is located within nia’s East London Rape Crisis service.
nia’s IDVA service is double quality marked holding CAADA/Safe Lives Leading Light accreditation and the Advice Quality Standard for General Help with Casework. The Newham service holds the AQS standard and is working towards Leading Light accreditation.
nia are seeking to recruit to the following posts:
Post: 2x Independent Domestic Violence Advocate
Full time: 35 hours per week
Salary: £25,301 – qualified (inclusive of London weighting)
£24,000 – unqualified*
Hours: 35 hrs per week
Post: Independent Domestic Violence Advocate
Salary: £13,011  (£25,301 pro rata) – qualified (inclusive of LW)
£12,342  (£24,000 pro rata) – unqualified (incl of LW) **
Hours: 18 hrs per week
These posts are funded by the London Borough of Newham and currently funded until May 2018 with the possibility of an extension.
We are looking for highly organised and self-motivated women who are passionate about working in the violence against women and girls sector. You will have a ‘can-do’ approach and demonstrable commitment to nia’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children.
In recognition of the diversity of languages spoken in Newham we particularly welcome applications from women who can speak any of the following languages: Urdu, Bengali, Polish, Romanian, Russian.

*Applicants who hold either the appropriate CAADA-Safe Lives or Women’s Aid qualification will be prioritised. Candidates who meet the requirements of the person specification but who do not hold either qualification must undertake to complete the qualification during their probationary period and will be offered a package including the payment of course fees. The salary will be adjusted once the qualification is obtained. The cost of the training will be deducted in the final salary if a post holder leaves within one year of completing the training.
