I’m a mum to a gorgeous little boy called Tai and the proud owner of a delightful puppy called Kaiyah.
Love, kindness and playfulness are central to my life (along with daily trips to the park, holding my breath while my son practices parkour, trips to the Science Museum and regular conversations about how to save the planet, Roblox and Minecraft).
My favourite time of day is first thing in the morning. I love the quietness and magic of being awake before everyone else in the house when the world feels still; sometimes it feels like a secret not everyone knows about.
Being in nature revives my soul. I adore camping, mountains, deserts and beaches; on the weekends we spend time with friends and family around a fire in a native tipi -it's my favourite place on the planet.
Cooking to uplifting and slightly trashy pop music totally rocks my world.
I’ve navigated several life transformations myself. Coming through tough situations wiser and stronger is how I roll.
I’ve transitioned from a successful IT career in my 20's to motherhood and entrepreneurship in my 30's.
I am proud to say I have been mentoring women than 13 years, creating powerful personal transformations.
I’ve summoned the courage to leave an unhappy marriage and have flourished.
I’ve healed from allergies and eczema using diet alone.
I know that true change takes time It also requires presence, commitment, persistence, guidance and support.
Most of all, making the decision to change while balancing a busy and demanding life, takes courage.
Every transition I’ve been through has been supported by the love, patience and wisdom of people who’ve been there before and know how to make change happen.
Now I’m offering that support to you.
I need everyone to understand that I love food! I am a massive foodie and really enjoy cooking and eating food from all around the world. I have never denied myself the enjoyment that comes from a delicious meal or said no when offered the dessert menu.
Yes, I’ve always struggled with my weight but it took me a while to really understand how my body image had taken over my sense of self-worth, relationships with others and critically my ability for sustaining happiness.
Here is my story.
I decided to make a change.
With my mum’s encouragement, I joined a gym. It may have taken me two months to actually go there, but I still joined. Within those two months, though, I mentally prepared myself for a fitter, healthier life.
I did a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in health studies and nutrition, I researched the nooks and crannies of health and fitness and I did blood tests for DNA profiling.
I took it seriously because, to me, I realised it was not just about a physical transformation but a mental shift. I knew for me to actually stick to a change, I would have to break down many years of ingrained habits and thoughts as well as the ‘fitness’.
The first workout class I ever did was a type of high-intensity resistance training. I had unknowingly thrown myself into the deep end. Suddenly the same pangs of embarrassment and shame from school PE lessons came over me. I felt uncoordinated, I couldn’t catch my breath, I felt like everyone was staring at me and I felt my eyes prick with tears. So I left after ten minutes.
I’d be lying if I said the next class was better, or even the tenth class. But something inside me had shifted so I was determined!
After the fifteenth class, I managed to stay for the entire lesson. I started feeling this euphoric rush of energy and strength every time I would finish a workout and I became addicted to my own progress.
Alongside classes, I was lifting weights, staying more active and eating a clean, nutrient-dense diet.
I decided that I was worthy of the time and commitment I was putting into myself and I could see results.
After four months, I had lost a lot of weight and after six months, I was a size 8 and 8.5 stone.
But the story doesn’t stop there.
I was expecting that once I had lost the weight, I would feel energised, healthy, happy and switched on; but I didn’t feel great.
I looked at myself and saw a shocking difference. I had lost my natural curves, the parts of me I actually liked and felt like a watered-down version of my true self.
Not only did my physical appearance not live up to expectation, but mentally I was also overworked.
Previously I had looked down on excessive gym-goers and classified them as vain neurotic people who committed too much of their life to the ‘body beautiful’. Now I had to ask myself if I had fallen into that trap.
I knew I needed to seek balance so that all aspects of my life were being catered for.
I knew I wanted to be a good mother to my son, a good partner and a committed employee in my new job, but most of all, I wanted to feel content with where I was at. So I cut my unnecessary hours at the gym, I focused on building back my curves and making health and fitness a component of my life, rather than my whole life.
Previously, my mind was stimulated and productive at work, but my body was lagging behind. Now, these three parts are in complete alignment, which has allowed me to continue making progress in a holistic and balanced way.
I am not going to say that this has been an easy road! Temptation is everywhere and that little voice in my head that tells me to spend an extra hour in bed rather than in the gym is still with me most mornings. But I’ve built up a level of self-discipline that is I did it by realising that I needed to connect my mind, body and soul.
So now I want to share my experience with the world. Why? Because unlike a lot of fitness influencers you see on social media not only am I a qualified health coach, I’m a very busy working mum.
I’m just like you and I get it.
I also feel like I’m pulled in a million different directions and being able to even find the time to work out isn’t always easy, but I’ve managed to implement techniques that allow me to perform at work, as a mom, as a partner and in my own health and mental care.
I am building a global community of strong, empowered women who are after efficient results and a holistic approach to health and fitness. I am leading working mum’s towards a healthier, happier life, that doesn’t involve hundreds of hours at the gym or restrictive diets (because, really, which mother do you know has time for that?).
I share my personal techniques and habits that have transformed me from size 18 to a comfortable, maintainable size 10 and a much happier human being. If you can connect to this story, I would like to work with you.
