Rent FREE and Rate FREE Pop-Up Spaces Available for local businesses - APPLY NOW!

Are you a budding local entrepreneur? Maybe you are an artist or you run your own small product based business? Could you benefit from having a pop-up shop to engage in direct sales to the public?

A great opportunity has arisen for budding entrepreneurs and local artists to occupy a retail unit in the heart of Walthamstow, rent and rate free! Yes that is correct, not a mis-spelling - rent and rate free!

These retail spaces on Hoe Street, which is based at the heart of the Town Centre, can be requested by applicants for up to six weeks, starting from midday, creating a flowing series of various pop-up's across the summer period.

In an article posted on Walthamstow.gov.uk we found:

Cllr Clare Coghill, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth & High Streets said: 

“Our pop-up shops schemes have proven to be incredibly popular in the past, so I’m very pleased that we are able to offer this new opportunity to local entrepreneurs, businesses and artists. We know it can be difficult for new businesses to find space to develop their offering and reach new customers, so being able to utilise this unit rent and rate free will hopefully be a huge help.

“We also want to create thriving high streets with a range of shops and facilities that our residents want, so we will be looking for projects that bring something new, interesting and unique to the area.”

All You Read is Love is an independent bookshop, café and bar in Leytonstone. Before moving to their current premises owners Karen Bundgaard and Anders Bungaard had a pop-up shop on Hoe Street in 2014.

Karen said: “We had a pop-up shop on Hoe Street in 2014, which gave us the chance to try out our idea, get a feel for what running a business would be like, and figure out whether our concept was worth investing the time and energy in. We had a great time there and learned lots, so it’s great to see this new opportunity being offered to local businesses again."

The Council’s Business Growth and Investment team is looking for a range of proposals for the pop-up space, but food and beverage initiatives will not be accepted on this occasion. The deadline for proposals is Saturday 22 April.
